I believe this auction is now effecting other error coin auctions as coins that I was looking at auction are bid up out of my price range.
Good and bad for me I guess.
It's possible, but improbable in my opinion.
I thought the same a few years back while collecting Lincoln Cent varieties. A certain auction brought very, very strong prices across the board, and our circle of friends began commenting that our little niche really "turned the page."
Didn't last.
Complete outlier.
The only thing I see as a true indicator of movement in a segment of this hobby is a prolonged "trend," backed by many realized prices from different auctions.
Tokens and medals of John Bolen are a good example. Over the years, his pieces have doubled and tripled mainly because of exposure created by a book cataloging his work.
I missed the boat on that!

Just saw this thread. I agree that the hammer prices were overall pretty high. However, I was able to pickup 2 Idaho quarter errors. I heard the Idaho obverse die cap is quite rare and the D/S is pretty scarce, so I feel glad I'm able to grab them.
for some reason the link didn't work for me. just went to a generic heritage page. so i'll post a couple links for any others having the same problem. ty for heads up seanq.
