I bought the coin (token) before the book in this case. I liked the design and have started a small collection of world tokens. I cannot find any information about this piece. Does anyone know anything about it? It looks like a token used on a canal called Canal D'Aire a La Bassee. It's made of silver. The dealer had it listed as Belgian but that canal is in France today.

Very cool! Do you have more info about it?
No, I don't have much information on it. I'm still searching.

It is possible that it's purpose was to act as a "free ride" token for a high level employee of the canal. This may be why it was struck in silver and also be why it appears to be a very uncommon item with little info available on it.
Nice condition for such a piece!
