1982 D penny 3.09 grams

So I'm roll hunting and came across this one. It's not pretty, but the weight is what I'm asking about.

    1982D large date. Spec for a copper planchet is 3.11 gms, so Your coin is is well within tolerance

    Copper planchet, just slightly underweight by .015 grams. Pretty sure it is within the Mint's weight tolerances.

    Weight is okay loss of copper due to PVC interaction.

    Not worth keeping even in an album.

    Use as change far away.

    Now im getting some new veiws on the shape of the eight- I overheard that if the eight is structured as a snowman vs two beach balls, stacked,
    its an indication of a Denver small date.
    ( 2 beach balls with equal circumfrince- large} Just so im not lead down the wrong history of this error , Could anyone please explain if true.
