i said 1-2 years ago that the NFL will not be around in a quarter century. sticking to it. even if i'm wrong and big money wins out over these guys morphing into turnips, i guarantee you the sport will be virtually unrecognizable then. what's going on just isn't sustainable. check this rant out:

I know nothing at all regarding the details of how the NFL is addressing this. But I would have to believe that if he contacts the NFL, that they will at the very least provide him contact with the right doctors and specialists who can assist him.

CTE is not an automatic brain death sentence. It likely can't be cured, but there are medicines and treatments out there to stifle the effects. It might require a strict dietary change on his part but it takes discipline to do that.

A dietary change to help with CTE? You sound like TB12

    You're denigrating your boy?

    That's blasphemy!

Do they still do public floggings in Boston for that? LOL

As much as I love Tom Brady when he is in a Patriots uniform I think he is a touch of a weirdo honestly. That Guerrero relationship raises my eyebrows a bit

Galaxy27 may be correct in his statement that the NFL will not be around in 25 years, or at least partially correct.

I can see that as knowledge of the effects on the brain (and other parts of the body) of the collisions that take place in football (at all levels) increases, the more likely it is that the number of young children who are allowed by their parents to play the game will decrease. With decreased participation, the pool of players who make it to and through high school and college into the professional levels will also decrease.

I can see that the persons who play football will trend towards persons from lower economic rungs of society, as persons who grow up in families that have more resources and income will choose to not have their kids play.

It may be that eventually football loses some of its appeal, audience and participants, going through what professional boxing has gone through. Boxing was immensely popular in general society decades ago, with many boxers being household names and sports icons. Not so much anymore.

The mindset of those who play football is pretty amazing, with many qualities that are positive. However, it seems to me that more and more people will evaluate the benefits and detriments of playing the game for years and decide that the detriments are just not worth the benefits.

As for Andrew Luck, he graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Architecture (I heard this on sport's talk radio) and likely has put away a large part of his after tax income from playing football. I expect that he will transition into post football life without finding himself lost, with no purpose.

Luck is smart , maybe not sensible. You know who else is smart? Aaron Rodgers won on friggin jeopardy but he's also a douche.

Methinks I like my QB's only average smart . If they thought about it they would all quit and that would put a hole in my TV watching on Sunday afternoon.

Don't we all want them to die right on the field to entertain us? :D Oh poor guy worried about walking with a limp at 45 , just drop dead the day after you retire and are no longer entertaining me . Simple solution to that problem . They are so selfish :D

The funniest thing said is that “Football won’t be around in so many years” it’s absurd to think they will do away with a multi billion dollar industry because it’s a rough sport. 🙄

I LOVE to watch the NFL-obviously.
I'd hate to see it go.

Here is an interesting theory. (I guess you could call it a conspiracy theory :D ) : Football was created by the "elite, Powers that be, etc" at a time when they knew the US was going to need multiple generations of strong-willed, tough young men to fight several wars. Today, those same "elite, PTB" no longer need to fight wars in the same way AND specifically want men to be the opposite, so they have implemented a multi-faceted process to do away with football.

Pats fans like our QB to be intelligent- it is the basis for much of his success.

Football has made tremendous strides since the beginning dating back to college football where deaths were happening. Broken bones were everyday occurrences. Even the President voiced an opinion to ban football games completely because of the violence. In the 80’s ESPN had highlights of only booming, knockout hits. TB was hit below the waist losing a season and that hit was outlawed. Concussions become a major concern and all hits to the QB’s head were immediately banned. Crack back blocks and double team blocks on kickoffs are no longer legal. Hits to defenseless receivers are illegal. So 10-15 years we’ll see more changes to make it as safe as possible but it will NEVER cease to be.

here is the problem with your theory , they did all that , got one guy ( Pat Tillman ) and then they murdered him themselves for no reason .

Thing about being elites is they pass their dough onto their halfwit good for nothing offspring . You start as elite sure but your grandkids are flat broke and chewing paint chips off the window sill

It's not my theory, but it refers to all of the young men who played youth and high school football......not NFL players ( I realize you are joking :) )

Ya my working theory some smart guy lifts himself up to millionaire level then decides to marry someone dumb and pretty . The kids they spawn are stupid never work a day in their life and squander the money . How many generations they hold on depends on the pool of money they have to piss through.

Nowadays the cash burn rate is much higher than in the past its breathtaking how fast people can plummet into the gutter.

If you are a superstar in any big sport today your grandkids wont inherit a cent , if you are just a regular player your kids are probably working at burger king already :D
