Sorry-I can't help with a time frame but I wish some of the current slabbing companies would adopt clear boxes for their slabs.
They commenced concurrently or very shortly afterward the intro of the fragile blue holder if that helps
I think they started in 2004 I bought one from anacs in about 2007
I thought it was a bit earlier than 2004.
