2019 Topps Heritage High Series

    Question Dan:

The low series Heritage is flooded - and the price has dropped drastically. There's still blasters for sale at Target and at the post Px I frequent.

The price on the high number hobby wax is over a 100 bucks.

Could the same thing happen with it? Or will there be players included as RCs that will be attractive like Guerrero?

Great question Mike. I like the checklist but I'd buy Heritage regardless of the R card draw. I would feel dirty not doing the high series just because I'm very anal like that. It was so much easier when there was no 2nd series :/

SOOoooooo I may just buy a hand collated set off e-bay and replace any bad cards with stuff I pull from some retail I'll pick up. I dunno

Heritage was horrible this year and can be found everywhere. Topps Chrome seems to be on the same path - it is everywhere at Target and Walmart and looks like you can grab 20 boxes if you want. HHN should be better depending on who is in it.

Got lucky today. Stopped by Target after the gym around lunch time and they had 4 Bowman Mega boxes sitting there. First time in ever I have been able to get any Mega boxes not on eBay.

That's pretty good Keith - those sold out immediately online with Target.

The 25 SPs in the high number checklist is on the weak side.

Definitely going to be some good rookies coming out of the heritage high number series. Huria, Guerrero Jr, Tatis Jr, Alonso and Jimenez just to name a few. Looking forward to buy a hobby box next week. Hopefully, the prices of the boxes go down, but I doubt it.

I'm I missing something or do some of the auto cards appear to be the same as the low series? The Carew and Yaz cards listed on Ebay as high number look just like the cards I already have. Think they just held back some of the autos and have released them in the high series? In the past it was at least a different card if a player's auto appeared in both series.

Good rookie class not great. Last year was better. Update will be weak too since the rumor is they are holding Yordan Alvarez for 2020. I’m out at this high price. Especially with the best rcs not being short prints.

High number blasters have hit Target.

Topps website sold out on hobby before I could get near it at 81 bucks a box which is way lower than Blowout e.g.

I really don't mind - a guarantee of ONE auto or relic per box?

I bought a hobby case of Heritage this year and 70% were relics vs autos - bad ratio considering those relics are not very impressive IMO.

Like last year - the high numbers will be blaster only for me.

edit: if this is anything like the first series? You'll see hobby boxes of this stuff for like 70 bucks per down the road?

IMO - unless Hobby eventually changes to one auto per box, blasters are better deal at inflated hobby prices.

I can't imagine hobby boxes going down to $70 like the base set. I think the rookie class in this one is just as attractive as the rookie class in last year's and I think those are hovering in the $100 to $110 per box range?

Acuna and Soto are better and younger than anyone in this class. Acuna might 40/40 this year and might win MVP and is signed long term in Atlanta. No one in this class touches either in my opinion.

Mike - grab all of the Bowman mega you can find at Target if you see it please. Mine have been empty except for one time when I found 4 boxes. Heritage on the other hand is plentiful. My Wal Marts and Targets are loaded with regular and high number. We are ripping a bunch tonight at home -boxes, blasters... if you need any cards to make a set holler.

    Thanx Keith.

I ordered mine since I wasn't going to the store. So, it'll be a few days.

    I haven't seen any Bowman.

I've also done Chrome this year - tho I'm not excited about the cards - I liked Finest better.

I guess I'm finding it more entertaining to open new product vs buying a few really nice cards that'll just wind up in the safe?

Not sure many would share this sentiment.

Thanx for the offer on the high set - will let you know buddy and same here.

Chrome this year from Topps was brutal IMO. Heritage hi # was pretty good. Got about 3 each of Senzel, Vlad Jr, Tatis Jr, and Alonso plus an Alonso box topper and Tony Perez auto.

I agree that Acuna and Soto are superior, but I think there's potential to have a larger mix of good rookies in this year's set. Alonso, Hiura, and Tatis look legit. Jury is still out on Vlad and Eloy, IMO, but if they live up to the hype, this could be a pretty good rookie class.

    That's true, Mike.

I have 2 LCS that were selling right out the gate for $80 per box. I know one dealer was into his boxes for $63 from GTS. The other gets his directly from Topps, but I don't know what his price was. I picked up a couple and haven't decided if I want to sit on them for the time being and just buy a complete set, or if I want to open and collate the set.

Yes. We have one shop left in town that has been around for 30+ years. Used to have 3-4 more but eBay killed them plus other factors. Wish we had the other ones back - those were the days. If you need any cards for your set lmk.

@KendallCat ... Topps Heritage was a brilliant idea by the company..... they tapped into a huge pool of 40-70 year old collectors reliving the past .... real one autos were brilliant, the refractors and flip stocks and magentas and other limited runs were genius.... more RC's is better IMO. I didn't feel that way early on but I love getting the different variations. Its a blast... and to see them selling for what some are getting is phenomenal.

And it’s just hitting the early days of an epic decade.

    Like Mike, yes, Nick.

You got a poor collation - too many rookie performers along with the other inserts that ate up your chance at getting an SP.

When you get an insert - like the RP, TNT, CC, Walmart/Target insert - in a pack - it eliminates your chance at getting an SP.

One of the boxes I picked up had 3 SPs in it.

Anyone buy or have any luck with the Topps on-line mega boxes? 15 packs for $40. I'm on the fence.
