I just noticed that the recent PSA holders have a symbol in the lower left corner that looks like a T and a backward 1. Anyone have any idea why it’s there?

Not sure why it is there (part of a QC step during manufacturing?), but there has been a 1 in the corner for quite some time now. See section 2.3 of the PSA label guide in my signature.

There seem to be two types of holder now being used concurrently. They can be distinguished by the style of the PSA logo in the lower right, but they also have several minor design differences. I believe the “T1” is only visible on the newer of the two styles, which was only introduced in the last year.
