For those of you who were using Gavelsnipe and switched to Gixen, did it work? I want to snipe something today and give Gixen a shot but don't want it to crap out on me. I had never heard of Gixen before.

Gixen has been flawless for me, even with the free account. I recommend it.
You can pay a small amount to get rid of the login timer and have some bid mirroring if needed.

Yes, I've been using it. No problems yet so far as I can tell.
I've been mirroring for free by putting them in Gixen and Gavelsnipe simultaneously. No problems here with snipes lately.
Interesting idea. If Gixen fails me I will give that a shot.

No issues at all.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't get a chance to set up Gixen yesterday as I was rushing out to the Yankees/O's game but I did set up a GavelSnipe bid and it went through.
Great idea about setting up snipes with both Gixen and GS!
Been using it for more than 10 years, Gixen works great.

I use Gixen exclusively and after the first couple times I was happy using it, I paid the $8 for the full year. lets you set it down to 3 seconds and also use of a mirror site (which one of my snipes had to use due to a main server issue) so luckily I had the backup server option. for $8, well worth the options.
I'm sure you guys got this, regarding limitation on winning snipes per month with the free Gixen account. Question - what is the "Mirror" user they refer to?
Dear Gixen user,
On (or around) Sep 15th, Gixen will introduce some changes and restrictions on free accounts, as follows:
1) There will be no change in pricing for Gixen mirror subscription. It will remain at $6/year for recurring Gixen mirror subscribers, and $8/year for one-off payments.
2) Free users will be limited to 4 winning snipes / month. Users who use Gixen in excess of that will be required to subscribe to Gixen mirror (annual, mirror chunks, or pay-per-use).
3) Gixen mirror users who subscribe to Gixen using recurring paypal payments, and subsequently cancel recurring payment before the end of the subscription period will have their subscription length adjusted accordingly, as if they made a non-recurring payment.
4) Users who subscribe to Gixen mirror using recurring paypal payments will be protected from any future price increases of Gixen mirror for subsequent years, for as long as they don't cancel the recurring payment.
5) Pricing of Gixen Mirror Chunks will remain unchanged.
6) Pricing of Gixen Mirror Pay-Per-Use will remain unchanged.
Wow, only 4 snipes per month. Well there goes free...
The mirror is the paid version since it will try from several different servers (mirrors) to make your bid snipe in case one fails.
They must be aware of the issues with gavelsnipe and looking to capitalize. Are there any other reliable free sniping services out there?

I've been using MyiBidder for years, never an issue except the time when they all did with the eBay CAPTCHAs.
Thanks, Kyle. My time with Gixen was short-lived. LOL.
MyiBidder stated it is free in its FAQ. When I downloaded and set the iPhone app up there is a charge per snipe after the first free 10 snipes.
Is there a cost?

I've never paid a fee, but sometimes IOS is different from Android or maybe I'm grandfathered in? Apple charges for all kinds of things that are free on other platforms.
Thanks for the reply Kyle. Digging into it more, the cost is associated with use of their iPhone app. Logging into the webpage to access it is no cost per snipe. Looks like we may have a winner here.
Thanks!

As one who is loathe to change, I've continued using gavelsnipe and haven't had any issues since the first outbreak of failed snipes. The message is still up on their site about not using them for important snipes. None of the snipes I placed were must haves and I think the highest one was for around $110. Anybody still using gavelsnipe without issue?
I haven't stopped using Gavelsnipe and have not run in to any issues at all. I've had 14 snipes in August without incident.

Perhaps they corrected the issue. I know many people had failed snipes not long ago.

I just used MyiBidder for the first time yesterday and worked like a charm!
Sadly, with their latest update on Android they're now charging for snipes on that app too after 20 free. $0.10-0.33 per snipe after that depending what bundle you purchase. I hadn't really used their website interface before, but it seems to have been developed by an 8th grader in 1997. Guess I'm on the hunt for a new Android app
Yeah, it is pretty bad, but I can navigate to enter my item number and bid without issue on my iphone. Worked for me yesterday no issue. Best of luck finding an alternative.
