While I'm not an mantle expert in any way, just looking at past sales of low end "authentic" or PSA 1's between $6-9k, this one is worse. My guess would be $3-5k but of course, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it!
This is a tough one Tim.
My first instinct was to say about a grand without even looking at past sales - that's based on the condition of the "A."
It seems that ‘ugly’ 1’s are all breaking 9k+ recently.
This one without the corner cut would be a nice looking 1.
I'm voting for no more than half of his original price. That missing corner is too much to overlook.
That missing corner really hurts it for me. If I were spending the asking price on this, I would rather have a 1953 Topps PSA 6.5 (maybe spend a little more for a PSA 7).
Worst condition I have ever seen. I would pass at that price. IMO, I wouldn't pay half of that sale price.
You like this one better?
@doubledragon here's the prefect 52T Mantle to crack out with the band saw.🤣
1954 Football Bowman
1956 Topps
1957 Topps
Redskins HOF Rookies
Redskins Ring of Fame Rookies
Slinging Sammy Baugh
Redskins Tickets (Stubs)
Redskins Matchbooks
I personally don't like either, though the one you posted I would rather have than the Mantle in the OP.
For the price that one in the OP will likely end up going for eventually, if it were my money and I had my mind set on a Mantle, I'd prefer a PSA 2 1951 Bowman instead of that 1952 Topps.
To spend the kind of cash already on a PSA 1 is crazy enough but to buy this copy and then show someone. They’re going to look at you as if you lost your marbles.
With a piece like that missing, I hope who ever is crazy enough to buy this gets a 25% discount since only 75% of the card is left.
Yeah, I don't think it could be much worse, it already looks like someone used a jackhammer on it. The Mick looks like Kris Kringle from Miracle on 34th street with that beard on the Authentic altered card.
I still see the beauty in this example even though it was ripped off while in someone's bicycle spoke! His name can still be seen fully, the Yankees logo is somewhat complete and his image is heavily creased but that can be seen through. I would guess the value is right at 6k, give or take a few hundred.

Pretty close.
Buy the nicest, highest grade, 53T you can afford instead of that turd.
I gotta think it’s at least worth 5k at least.....this is The One for Mantle, period..... as great as the real rookie ‘51 is....and all the others.
Prices realized for ugly 1’s and A’s have been through the roof it seems.
Now the listing is gone!
LOL Someone here snagged it I’m guessing.
Good grief. I imagine it looks even worse in hand.
I'd buy it only if I could get it cheap enough, and then flip it.
But i'd wait a few weeks first, and enjoy owning a 1952 Mantle for a while.
