My first successful bumb/crossover/crack out upgrade.

In the year since I began collecting I have paid full asking price for my education in the hobby in form of rookie mistakes. I have bought fake cards, unlicensed cards, altered cards, graded cards with qualifiers, raw cards for more money than their post grade value and most recently a slabbed bgs that cant put in a PSA holder because it doesn't meet min size rq.
So even though it is a modest hike in value I am pretty pleased to have this successful gain.

Consider this post my little victory lap.

I bought a 1948 Leaf Sammy Baugh Rookie in a SGC 40 VG 3 holder. I cracked it out an sent it to in to be put in a PSA holder so I could add it to my Sammy Baugh Basic Set Registry. I was pretty stoked to see it come back as a PSA 4 and that its actually the rarer Red Jersey variation, not the Maroon.

Slingin Sammy Baugh, the man that put passing on the map. Nice pickup. As far as making mistakes, don't feel bad. When I first started collecting, I was so green that I thought a reprint was a variation.

Mr. Baugh is by far my favorite player, favorite player to collect and and imo the greatest football player (all round, not by position) to ever lace em up.

    Nice job Troy.

I have the Bowman - I think the Leaf is far better looking.

    I'm wanting one too!

    Thanks Mike.
I've had the Bowman for a few years now from just collecting Redskins memorabilia and before I started collecting cards. I just sent it in for grading this year in the same submission. Last Baugh I need to get graded to finish the his basic is his 49 Leaf which I'll probably send in this month.

I agree with you that the Leaf is the better looking of his 2 rookie cards.

Thanks. I'm hoping learning the hard way becomes learning the not so hard way soon.
