I'm proud to volunteer for the Special Olympics she is single handedly responsible for. She's given millions the opportunity to experience being treated with dignity.
So I happened to be at dinner in DC with US Mint officials when the Special Olympics coin was released (totally unrelated project) and the Director said sales were flat. So I suggested they add a checkbox in their extensive print ad campaign to NOT deliver the ugly coin to the buyer but to present it to a disabled child instead. I was shocked he actually adopted my suggestion-don't know how many extra coins were sold that way, but better than none. If someone has an old publication with such an ad, please send me a photo.
