What exactly is private bidder listings on Ebay? Is this a way for seller to drive up the price of his item?

It sure seems shady to me.

Funny about the outrage over PWCC on items 99% of us would never even bid on, but ebay has some obviously WORSE policies.

Seems like seller would get better prices if bidders knew real people were bidding on it.

I think it was originally done back when full bidder IDs were displayed on eBay and many players, especially in the higher end stuff, didn't want anyone to be exposed and run up. Why the option still exists now that buyer IDs are obfuscated anyway, I have no idea, and seems to be used nearly exclusively for shady practices now.

Private bidders, hidden feedback, bid retractions..........am I missing anything?
