Interesting pricing on the Daily Price Guide

The 1943 D MS-67FB Merc. is cheaper than the plain D. The San Fran 43 FB is more than the 43 P which has a lower pop.

  • In the Mercury series the FB coins are generally more desirable than non FB coins. The fullest struck coins were FB and after the dies had some use, the portion of the die that produced the Split band would become damaged or broken off and ground smooth for continued production and use of the die. Therefore the value and desirability of the FB is much greater.

Non full band coins may get second thought for submission and if you see a lower population for Non-FB coins than for FB coins (especially in the later dates) it may be from lack of submission and not a true reflection of being more scarce.

    Hope this helps.
