I have to say, eBay has done a tremendous job with this tricky sales tax issue. It is seamless! I was looking through my sales from last week and noticed tax collection for 8 different states - and I had to do NOTHING!!! No paperwork for me to file, no checks to write.
Good job, eBay!!
Just keep in mind that it is still on you if a state decides to sniff you. Keep an eye out and make sure all your listing are classified properly. I agree it is nice to see the platforms do what they are paid to do but they don't protect you from anything if errors occur.

this site is a good resource and summary industry specific.

No, find the form for Indiana on the Indian State Government website.
If I need this form WHY hasn't eBay told me this in one of my 8 calls to them,,,,,, one guy told me to call PayPal which I did and that was WRONG! So 9 calls.
I realize this is not the fault of the people that I spoke to,,,,, it is eBay fault for not properly traing their employees on this issue.

The terminology is confusing. States issue a certificate to you to display. But there is also a form you would give to a retailer for their reporting purposes. Both are sometimes called a "resale certificate". Ebay needs the form you're supposed to give to retailers.

It was not meant in a literal sense. Seems to be a lot of confusion over tax reporting on transactions on the site.
