Any guesses on what I'll get?

https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/mexico-carlos-iv-mexico-city-portrait-8-reales-54d442eb5d

Feel free to guess when I decided to take this risk.

Good luck there. At least they tell you the coins are far from pristine.

How come you bid on that lot ?

    Are you bored ?

I manage money. I earn money. I save money .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

Numismatically - yes. But that's not the only reason.

1806 6/5? Possibly Chile or Guatemala, misidentified as Mexican?

Or a previously uncataloged overdate for Mexico.

Sure will. The lots seems to have come from a long term spanish collector. Due to the live bidding software glitch, i actually missed out on a previous lot that had another interesting overdate in the description.

Wouldn't be surprised if it exists. My other thought was mistakenly listed 1816/5, but they said Carlos IV.

Well, I don't think it's an overdate, but neat die damage around that last digit. Luckily I've been able to break even selling individual coins on eBay that did surprisingly well for being raw and almost all cleaned.

    The hunt continues.

Excellent image and good luck hunting. That's the best part.

    @TwoKopeiki

As they say in New Zealand, Yeah nah.

But hey, if you send it in as an overdate and act confident enough, PCGS just might give it to you. Don't ask me how I know. :o>:)

Haha, the old me would have definitely ran that gamble ;) Plus that 1804 die scratch is convincing enough for me to eventually find a nice MS example and get that certified, as well.
