1856 Flying Eagle Cent PR61PCGS CAC
A nice, problem-free example of the Snow-9 die pairing with CAC green bean. I still think this is worth a try at PR62 but I have not sent it in for Upgrade. $14,500
1916 Matte Proof Lincoln PR65RB PCGS CAC OGH
The second rarest of the MPL series, in an old green holder with CAC green bean. PCGS: 57 in 65RB with 34 finer. CAC Pop: 16 in 65RB with only 5 finer (7/2019). $5,500.
1964 SMS Lincoln Cent MS66RD PCGS SOLD
This 1964 SMS cent was clearly part of a five-piece "set" at one time, as the MS67/SP67 Kennedy half that we sold three years ago through Heritage Auctions (a world record for three years at $47,000) was numbered 11892056, and this cent is numbered 11892052. A Roosevelt dime numbered 11892054 still shows at PCGS as SP65. The half dollar brought $47,000 in 2016 and more recently, another SP67 Kennedy half was sold at auction (Heritage) for $108,000. A second Kennedy half MS67/SP67 (PCGS used to use the prefix MS before switching to SP for Special Strike) with a single unsightly spot on the obverse rim, soon after brought $87,188 at Great Collections.
This cent graded MS66RD is nicer than than the so-called SP67RD PCGS example that sold at Heritage ( [ha.com/12914369])(http://ha.com/12914369 "ha.com/1291*4369") for $15,600 despite having a big glob of die grease on the shoulder. In any case, these usually trade privately (and quite a few of those have been through us, including the single Finest Known complete set). The halves have apparently peaked; the cents, in particular are, in our opinion, the second-rarest denomination after the halves, especially fully Red examples such as the present coin. FWIW this coin is also the CoinFacts Plate Coin (PCGS #3284). Although PCGS reports three grading events in MS/SP66RD with five in 67RD and two in 68RD, all those figures are inflated by repeated upgrade attempts. It will likely be a long, long time before you have an opportunity to buy another 1964 SMS cent this nice or nicer. And the prices will likely get much crazier down the road. Don't wait on this one. $SOLD.
1990 No S Proof Lincoln Cent PR68DCAM PCGS
These No S proof cent errors are popular but far more affordable than in earlier days. This example is in an early blue-label PCGS holders. The PR68DCAM is $3350. I frankly see no reason why this is not a 69.
More coming ...
