Rare Half Sovereign - 1879 London Mint

Never really see half sovereigns posted on here. Some of the Victorian series are quite rare, especially in the higher grades. This would be one of them, original mintage 35,000 but evidently most went into actively circulating channels....GTG if you would like, but apologize for poor picture quality:

Maybe others can post some more of the scarcer half sovereigns?

    I'll wager a guess at 62.

Sorry about the poor resolution on pie pan blowup!

As an aside, my opinion as to rarity of Vicky half sovs:

    1854 - unknown to exist
    1862
    1845 (nearly tied with 1862)
    1879
1841 (in higher states of preservation)

MS62. The die number 88 would make it appealing to Chinese buyers.

Just graded by NGC: 1845 half sovereign, Marsh 419 (R3), S-3859. AU55. My guess is large % of mintage was dated previous year, but that's just a guess. KM value optimistic IMO, but certainly uncommon.
    Top Pops are: 1 x AU58 NGC, 1 x AU53 PCGS.

Like that date; I have the "58" and haven't seen a better. IMO - one might benefit from a breakout and resubmission.
