Dang! Yeah Gretzky from a far does look like a 9! But those guys normally if it looked like a 9 they would be screaming 10 possibly. But that thing is nuts centered! I dont know if Ive ever seen one as nice. Its centered better than the 10 in my eye.
And for the original question I go back and forth with unopened and graded Pete Rose cards. I always love me some unopened and do find myself looking for it more than graded. But the big problem is I can not find any really that I need or want. Its getting real tough to find these days and If it does come up $$$$. Would love to have that 1948 Bowman box. I do not think I will ever live enough life spans to save enough money to buy it.
The Gretzky was a PSA graded pack. And also the 1972 had the correct run. I busted a box years ago and pulled 3 Staubach's and every pack had a blanda as well. Those 2 were 100% real.

Color me skeptical, but I wouldn't be surprised if these pack rips are as bogus as a $3 bill.
How exactly do you imagine this to be? Most of the packs are broke from PSA holders and the spots are randomized live on camera.
The part they didn't show is David Blaine actually swallowed the encased pack, opened it in his stomach, regurgitated the Gretzky, and then slipped it in the fake pack they opened on camera.

Sure I can with several examples if needed... in general though I’d say some things are up more than 20%, some are up around 20%, and admit some less than 20% but I don’t think anything has gone down.
Which remember I took up 20% but you took the down 20% side. So to be more accurate I just need it to be up anything to have been more correct than your very loud and repetitive predictions in 2017.
Prices are up way more than 20% for vintage unopened. Anyone who believes otherwise must not be paying attention.

Also show me where unopened couldn’t possibly have any fraud issues like we have seen elsewhere. Can’t happen, right bros?!
It’s not just vintage that is up 20% or more. BBCE had 1981-1983 Topps wax boxes all day long last summer for $250/box. Now they sold out at $329/box, which is a 32% gain. Same is true for 1984 and 1985 for all three brands. Pretty much anything pre-1985 unopened is up well over 20% in just the past year alone.

Live and die by unopened, just purchased another beauty with a Oz RC inside... almost up to a full box now ;D
How do you know Ozzie is in there?
For the same reason you'll never see me sell any packs-- sequencing is a sure fire way to know what's inside, if you can see top and bottom cards. There's a lot of variance, this isn't a normal one but I'm 95%+ sure that he's in there. I opened tons of racks/wax/vending for a LCS when I was younger-- I learned quickly that sequencing usually holds true.
So to answer the Chrisser, sure there's some fraud in unopened, but there's ton of legit raw unopened out there too. The more you know, the better off you are.

I've opened a lot of 70s packs over the years and can tell you firsthand that sequencing varies greatly (at least for mid to late 70s baseball packs) from pack to pack (racks, cellos and wax also all have different collation patterns) and breaks multiple times per pack, as well. If it didn't, every rack would have same cards on top and bottom of each cell. I've also pulled a ton of rookies and HOFers from random rack packs so the finds are still out there.

I've got a few 78 & 79 FASC racks. Which visible cards should I be looking for that'll possibly indicate a Molitor or Murray in the 78 or Ozzie in the 79?

Wax varies the most. Racks and cellos, not so much. But each card has at least three different sequences that lead to it, some even more. Double prints also make it difficult, that's why racks are the best (confirmation from back card). Even with multiple sequences, there is always one that's more common than the others-- so cellos are still susceptible, you just might miss every now and then.

I would agree with yall if they were busting packs like this and posting Dead Centered Mantle Rookies.
But they all look legit from what I have seen.
A lot of high-end, vintage unopened is up FAR more than 20% just in the last year.
I bought these at the National last summer, and they're all up more than 50%.
Vintage unopened has been crazy.

In a 1981 topps pack, Eddie Murray and George Brett are usually back to back.
And in a pack opening career that started in 1970, this concludes my knowledge of card sequences.
