Hunt Auctions sell Ruth jersey for 5.6 million!

Saw this on Hunt auctions and thought it was worth sharing.

This jersey is from around 1928 to 30 - that's when Ruth was making like 80K a year I believe? If so, that would be like 1 million today - so was the Babe underpaid?

The price realized in the scan above is without the BP which is 17.5% at Hunt.

This just might be a record for a piece of memorabilia?

    I don't know. Things were very different then. Almost no media rights and much lower attendance means a much smaller revenue pool. Entertainment was a much smaller business than it is today.

    Mind blowing piece of memorbilia. I think 80k a year is pretty good for those days. Heck, I wish I made 80k a year THESE days.
