    In other news....

The 3rd BEP print and the sheet of Forever Apollo stamps were delivered yesterday. Both are pretty nice.

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread posts.

Mine came bent, and the print damaged. Figures.

We'll see if they have replacements...

    Ouch!

So far, mine have been good. There was an attempt but the mailer fought back. Have one more inbound.

    Knock on wood or linen.

The bend was right though the FRN. Well, it was a crap S/N anyway. :D

Final delivery was done by FedEx (this is the second time a mint package has been intercepted by FedEx and not handed off to the USPS), so it's all on FedEx...

The cardboard mailer even states, “DO NOT BEND.”

I guess whoever “folded” was thinking, “Well, I’m not bending it.” :o

Received text the arrival pushed out to Monday. The longer it’s in transit the greater the chance for “errors.” :| Get what you pay for in shipping. Free is not always good.

Hope this does not arrive like the 3rd Apollo print. :/

I received mine today. I like it.
$90 for a $50 bill is not necessarily an “investment” but I have spent more on worse things.

Now riding the swell in PM's and surf.

Arrived today, instead of Monday, somewhere along the way the transport WetEx vehicle must have been submerged.

    Not...

The last four of SN started with 07XX.

    ...good...

Returning to Mint. Stated they are currently unavailable and a refund will be issued.

    ...at...

Have a great weekend and keep your FRNs dry.

    ...all.

    Well, an update of sorts.

    The product arrived last Thursday.

I tried to initiate a return via the website, got:
"We're unable to process your return items at this time. Please contact customer service for more information."

So I pressed the red button next to that message (to start a chat with a US Mint rep), and set up the return. No problem, I was to get a return label e-mailed to me. Done, right?

Never got the e-mail, looked at the order status, and the order was not approved for a return.

I physically called the Mint this morning, talked to a CS rep. He couldn't get the return initiated either. (So the live chat rep lied to me, and did not/could not initiate the return.) No one there could figure out why the system won't let me return it. Oh, that's encouraging.

Their solution? They're going to snail mail a return label to me. Could take a week. Meanwhile, that puts me outside the 7 day return window, and even though I'm assured they'll take the return (because the product was damaged), I'm not convinced.

I may send it back within the 7 days window and pay for the return postage myself. Better than being out $86, and the sooner I get it back to them, the better the chance for a replacement, if any are available...

I don't return things very often to the Mint, but they do make it a giant PITA when I do... :s

(Okay, I'm done whining. For right now, anyway. :D)

Mine had a corner ding on the large Presentation Folder. The embossed print and the $50 FRN were both ok. At worst I'm out $36 as the $50 FRN is still worth $50

On a side note, the cardboard mailer smelled like someone got sick all over it... :o

So I got a return label for the set.

It's going back via UPS ground.

They ship it to me via smartpost, and it's going to be returned via UPS ground. This does not compute. Well, it probably does to someone, but...

    smh...

My experience with the Mint has been once I call them and tell them it is damaged they usually send out a prepaid labels, very easy. The part I don’t like is the necessity of calling. I don’t understand why their website cant accommodate a simple and helpful addition.
And they are very slow to get the mailing label out to you. I have had to call them twice to get it emailed to me.

Double agree! Then it takes about a month for a refund.

There is an option via the website. (If you look at an order history, there's a button to return items from that order.)

It just didn't work for me, I got an error trying. Didn't work for Customer Service at the Mint, either. So it was broken in my instance, but it usually works. Well, at least I assume it works...

I've tried it a couple times on different products and each time it tells me to call.

It took a seven total days after receiving the returned set for the email to arrive stating that the refund should hit my payment method (CC) in five business days.

Would have rather had a replacement, but... none available.

  • HemisphericalHemispherical Posts: 9,370 ✭✭✭✭✭

And it’s here. Four additional days and credit back on the CC.

  • BackroadJunkieBackroadJunkie Posts: 3,745 ✭✭✭✭✭

    There's a couple left...

Believe it or not, I believe I have a replacement for my damaged set coming via slowpost...

  • HemisphericalHemispherical Posts: 9,370 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Missed it.

    (Quoting myself again... :D)

Aaaaand, I just got the replacement yesterday. Still a crap serial number, but at least it's not bent. Only took 7 weeks from return request to arrival of the replacement.

I've gotten Smartpost packages in 5 days, which was a record at the short end. On the other hand, this puppy took a full 14 days, a record for longest time. Yes, there was a three day weekend in there, but 14 days is just a little ridiculous. Registered mail takes less time. A guy on a bicycle could have done it in less time...
