I check the pop report everyday and just now I went to look and saw the 10 column bump up by 1 and said to myself I bet it is a Hogan. Sure enough it was.

For PSA to award one a 10 it must be incredibly nice.

It will be very interesting to see if this card surfaces.

David what do you think it'll go for if it does?
You don't have to respond if you intend to go get it :)

I honestly don't know what this card could sell for. It has always been my greatest collecting fear that one would finally hit because it may end up in the hands of a non wrestling card collector who just wants to own it as a marquee investment piece.

The dealer from CA that has had great success with scoring high grade cards from the sets has said in the past he has a buyer who had a 25k bounty on it. I was texting yesterday with the other dealer who has tried everything to land one and has controlled most of the 9's that have been graded at one time and he pointed to the recent Tiger Woods sale that was in the high 60k range and thinks there will be some serious interest from bigger collectors wanting to own the prized card.

The wrestling sets have been actively graded since early 2010 and so a lot of time has gone by to prove how tough this card is in a Gem Mint grade. I am really curious to see what it looks like because there are some really nice PSA 9's and many of those have been reviewed over and over again and cracked and sent back in raw and none were awarded the Gem Mint grade. PSA is very aware that this is an expensive card so my assumption is that is has to been a stunner.

In terms of the card coming from a sheet. The same dealer had made that comment years ago that you needed a sheet to surface to land one. I have the only known uncut sheet but in theory there could be another one out there.

The 1982 A come in various sizes and most are the slightly smaller size and some are the more over sized. It is easier to find a larger Hogan with good centering because it leaves more room on the card for the crucial top to bottom centering. For a few years PSA was kicking back a lot of cards fresh from packs as MIN SIZE requirement but it seems in the past few years they have loosened back up on this issue. I am in favor of that because the vast majority are the smaller version and aren't trimmed. What I want to see in an 82A is that both sides bow inwards towards the middle. There is a very specific cut you will see on them and it is similar to when I bought a 1961 Fleer basketball card where they don't have a straight cut on top. There are probably some out there that are just fine that have a more typical cut but on this card it is imperative that the sides look this way in my view.

No one has reached out to me yet who has the card so I assume it is either being shopped privately or will come to auction in a coming PWCC auction and there is no doubt in my mind that I will have to be bidding against the owner but my greatest concern is I think the card will move out of a range I am comfortable spending. It comes at a fortunate time because I am in the position to compete up to a strong point but that may not be enough.

It is going to set a record for a wrestling card that is for sure.

Just curious, but why is there the need to check the pop report daily? Wouldn't weekly or so suffice?

Just a habit I have never broken. It only takes a few minutes and I like to see in real time what has been graded. Early on it really helped because I was able to track down cards before they would hit eBay. Not much anymore on these sets.

When I snagged the Pop 1 Carnation Ric Flair 10 I saw it hit and thought I knew which card it was and was able to start negotiations right away.

I check eBay several times a day for a few searches because sometimes you have to be fast. Have gotten loads of killer deals doing this.

Okay so not sure what to think of this. The Hogan is not in the Pop report now. I have never once seen a 10 removed. Obviously lower grade cards have dropped off from either a cert being mailed in from a crack out or a review.

I sent an email to Steve this morning to try and find out some details and I already got an email back from Jackie and while she can't discuss specifics as it is another customers order she did confirm there is not a PSA 10 of the card.

I had talked to customer service yesterday about something strange on an express submission that was logged on 6/5 and i could view it then it changed to logged 6/7 and I can't view it. Maria, in customer service, said that they are having some issues with parts of their website. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it but I guess it is a possibility?!?!

I guess anything is possible. I text someone this morning and they mentioned perhaps a mechanical error.

What is so odd is that this card wouldn't leave PSA without major scrutiny. I have sent in lots of cheap wrestling cards over the years and PSA grades them and they aren't going to show up on anyone's radar. If a perfect 82 Hogan was sent in the grade would flag an up charge scenario if it hadn't been submitted at a higher service level. I could see PSA charging $1,000 for the grading fee on this card. If not that high for certain $500. I have no experience here but I believe it to be true that a card of this magnitude would have to have several graders agree and especially the head grader.
