The 1990 Bowman Factory Sealed had pretty cool rookies but all offcentered

The Juan Bernguer the closest to being centered

    The 1989 Score
Scored a Kelly and a Berenguer and some other Notables ... :)

Just curious why those cards were saved & put in card savers? Favorite players?

Also, good thread, I enjoy junk wax. Thanks for giving us a peek of these rips.

This 1991 Best sealed box was loaded with rookies and the centering on these are pretty consistent.
The Pedro is one of my favs...

I was suprised to see a Sherman Obando minor league card in this set..🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦. Looks like a 10...wohooo.. I collect Obando..🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦

Also while I was looking thru them I said I recognized this dude...It was Panamanian player Orlando Miller with his wrong name ..
It reads Shane Reynolds..and the Shane Reynolds reads Orlando Miller ..!! Cool ..my Panama Error Card !!. 🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦

Jim Thome and Delgado was a plus...

Dont know why I kept the Jeff Kent but it looked like a 10 so I just might send that one...also

I'm just wondering, don't you know what to expect in a factory set? I mean the pictures are too far away to show condition.

    Not really
I just opened a Factory 1987 topps ...all offcentrerd
Not even going to picture them
Also the 1990 factory score ..off centered also...and the Frank Thomas #1 draft came with a bad corner
Will make good gift to some young collector as I give them away if I dont use ...

I was fortunate to see Kent, Delgado and Juan Guzman with the Knoxville Blue Jays.

Delgado sure could hit. He produced 25 home runs and batted .303 in 1993 while with Knoxville. Good memories.

While you were in the 90 Score did you check for the Ryno #561 that lists him as 3B on the front? It's currently valued higher than the BO or Frank Thomas at a whopping $8. I only know this because I busted a few boxes earlier this week. I don't normally remember these details, but I was surprised to find something of value in a box of 90 Score. I'm not sure if that error was contained in the factory set or not.

Although I did have baseball cards as a kid in the 70s, I don't consider myself a real collector until the early 90s. The sentimental part of many of the cards from that time period(common junk as they are considered these days)will always outweigh anything monetary. I still have a binder with a lot of my favorites from that time. I appreciate posts like this. Thank you! :)

It did not have the 3b logo but I went back and found some cool rookies I might keep..

Just an example of what's stored - junk i.e.

I just found a bunch of 91T factory sets in a box; I'm still working on organizing at a snail's pace - tho.

I bought a bunch of wax in the early 90s since it was really cheap - and still is.

The 91T sets were on sale at the Px. Nobody wanted them - I think they were like 15 bucks and some reduced again to like 10 or 11.

Not sure what will happen to all this kind of stuff?

I did have 1 box that went up from the junk box era.

I bought this box from Rotman in 1993 for a 100+ bucks. I think it's gone up.

I normally give away boxes to young kids so they get into collecting ...I gave away two factory sets to a 10 years old that the mom said he loved baseball..mom says the kid now guards those boxes like a treasure....he will appreciate them more than gathering dust in my closet ..

    Agree.

My son doesn't care much right now.

Hoping that he'll see it different whey I "recruit" the grandchild - he just recently go married.

I got most of the sets I own (the ones that had them I mean) from factory sets...actually opening one and sorting them (Topps ones dont come in numerical order for some reason) and putting them in a binder is a LOT of fun...I still need to get caught up on 2015-present at some point.

I was thinking of maybe having a run of Topps wax boxes and/or factory sets from 1986-92 to start...what do you guys think? Think they'd be good collectibles to go with my sets? Trouble is there's so much I want to do and very little to do it on...I might get to spend $100 a month or so if I'm lucky (we only get our disability checks). Still I'm only 39 (only?) so hopefully I still got plenty of time to achieve at least most of my collecting goals...provided I don't unexpectedly get hit by a bus or something :(

Really? I thought factory sets generally have better centered cards overall and have that clean/fresh feeling (but I don't do grading except for 70s sets and that's only for insurance against trimmed/compromised cards). Still I learned early on factory sets are not infallible. And with the Score ones the boxes are quite thin so you must be careful not to get one with a corner of the box smashed. :(

    On the factory set side.

Evan Mathis gave me a 1952 Reprint set last year at the national.

Just got around to collating. I'm missing cards. Wonder how prevalent that is?

That '90 Bowman Sosa looks like it's perfectly centered. They should be slightly bottom-aligned to the eye.
