Ouch, Ouch and OUCH!!! G.O.D. sighting!!

So grades just popped on a bulk sub from late January. Actually popped in 84 business days. Also had a 64 day CC Special sub pop last night in just over 30 days. Hats off for getting the turnaround times down! While "most" of the other cards in the submission were about as expected (there are always a couple head scratchers that I end up agreeing with after I get the cards back), this lot has me reeling. Picked thru a lot of more than 700 Jordan cards. We probably all have a ton of this stuff. Difficult to sell raw even at $1-2. Most of these sell for $15-40 in PSA 10. Figured that I would only pull out the stuff that I felt had a "more than likely" shot at 10, went over them at least 3 times before sending them in. Now, my track record has been very good so either I feel like I know what to look for or have been EXTREMELY lucky in the past with this kind of stuff. Hoped for 50+ 10's, felt realistically would probably get about 40 10's. Hell, even if I only got 30....meh, whatever. (12) 10's out of 55 cards.....let me repeat that TWELVE! What surprises me even more was getting 8's and 8.5's.... a dozen of those. Looks like I either play crack and resubmit or I'm going to have a lot of contest cards to give away!!!! Maybe the graders are just plain tired of looking at Jordan cards. If that were the case, I wouldn't blame them a bit, lol!!!

Ouch. With enough submissions, I think we've all experienced results like that at one time or another. I know I've got a few in my sub tracking spreadsheet labeled 'Crack and resub' for the majority of the sub (and a bunch of others that seemed harsh, but after looking more closely I agreed with the harsh assessment).

I’d be very worried submitting with 10 being the only satisfactory grade. I feel very confident differentiating between an 8 and a 9/10, but not at all between 9 and 10.

Yeah, that's why I'll be anxious to get them back to look at them. I just can't believe I would miss THAT many.

Lol, maybe a little overconfidence on my part, I don't know. I have submitted a lot of 80s'/90's basketball and baseball in the last year assuming 10's and would say I am at well over 80%.

It would be hard to crack and resubmit because even if you get mostly 10's this time(not likely) you will be near the break even point and if you get mostly 9's again you are way in the hole. I like most people have thought about sending in a bunch of Jordan cards but this is exactly why I haven't to this point.

Wow!!! End of day, sub at day 84, newer grader, rushing to complete order before going into overtime status and very reluctant to give a 10. That N6 would really irritate me knowing that you probably packed pulled it. Always heard that any Jordan had to be an 11 for a shot at 10.....
Recently purchased 5 boxes of 1990-1992 Hoops & Skybox for $15...…. think I'll let them sit.
That sub killed the 80% return rate.

I ran a group jumbo holder sub and we got poppage last night. Except for 2 nice grades, neither of which was my card, we felt like we got railed throughout the sub. Maybe it was the same grader you got.

Just hang around the boards, I'll be running some contests to give some away, I'm sure!

Just to clarify, I'm for sure not a high end guy. This is the rest of the bulk sub I sent in and below that is the CC Special I sent that popped so quickly. As you can tell, I submit, then sell cards for the budget-minded collector, lol! All accept for my Jell-O, most of those stay in my personal collection regardless of the grade. Cards in bold were all recently pulled from packs. Line #102 Ron Waller...that was in a PSA 8 holder that I cracked. "Play with the bull, your bound to get the horns"

How did you feel about your club sub, Tim.

    I think I remember you posting the T205s e.g.?

    Mike,
I was ok with it. The Van Atta i realized had the paper loss on the back that I didn't originally see so any delusions of 5-6 went out the door early on. It will look amazing in a 2 holder, lol. I think that everything else was about spot on. After subbing some other 33 Goudey, I had an idea what to expect and these probably fall in line with those. I'll have to look at them all more closely when they hopefully get here this weekend. I knew I had a bucket of turds in that sub but It was cheap enough to get them holdered and back pretty quickly. I will probably keep a couple of the Goudey and sell the rest anyhow.

Eh, you win some, you lose some. If I was doing this to make a living and not just for fun, I would probably be stuck eating Raman noodles for a while but I won't lose any sleep over it. With all that has been going on in our little hobby recently, it seems many people are having the fun sucked out of what is supposed to be something we enjoy. My approach is to think the worst when I do my club sub every year and then be pleasantly surprised if I get a 9 or 10.

Oh, this wasn't the CC voucher. This was the CC Monthly special for min 15 cards pre 1956 or whatever it was.

Agreeing with the OP, I think I had the same grader for a bunch of similar Jordan cards a few months ago. They all looked like 11's to me and they came back 9's.
