1919 wheat penny colors

Curious on information on this one. Some discoloration....is this due to age or something that may have happened when it was made? Maybe made of different metal at that time? Thanks.

    There is a residue on the surface of your coin. It may have also been on the "orange-pink" patch on the reverse and then removed. This color on a brown, circulated, copper coin is generally not good what ever it is.
