If possible replace the board!! every last one of them. Vote for the Col. for president (just my personal opinion).

I have to admit I like the Colonel's combination of military experience and formal business schooling. It's impressive that he went from private to Colonel and was commander of the Army Green Berets. Military experience often translates well to civilian leadership positions.

In another thread I was commenting that Colonel and Doctor are two distinguished numismatist titles and it just so happens that we have a Colonel and a Doctor vying for the President this year.

Anyone have recommendations for the other positions?

Watch the ANA candidate forum at the ANA show in Pittsburgh. It is very eye opening!

Vote for people you know and trust. Don't feel you need to vote for every office or for 7 candidates for governor.

I like hearing about what people are campaigning for. From the election material:

Ellsworth seems to be working to continue existing work:

    Ellsworth said:
If elected I will continue and complete some of the terrific initiatives that were begun by Presidents Garrett and Adkins, and will continue to build on the long-term development and gifting programs I’ve been instrumental in.

Kagin has a 65-point platform with a lot under the menu headings "Platform" and "2 Cent Ideas".

    For what it is worth.
Try to read between the lines.
Look for those that want to improve the ANA not just titles and/or positions held now or in the past!

    Here's some screenshots from Don's website - http://www.kagin4anapresident.com/

I love the idea of Skype ANA Seminars. I've been remarking that lots of clubs are using online meetings now and coin clubs should go in the same direction.

    Some ideas I like:

    • Skype ANA seminars, especially for beginners and perhaps use Money Talks.
    • Update / modernize Diploma and other programs.
    • All exhibits images put online. Exhibitors can place images and information on ANA website.
    • Put ANA Museum Collection online. Get dealers to sponsor specific series.
    • Reach out to the entire membership to participate as committee volunteers and/or as speakers. Provide the goals of each committee along with what would be required of each volunteer. Then put them to work!

Disclaimer: I don't know and have not met Don. I kind of like what he's saying on his website.

I would say don't vote only for who you know or it will be a popularity contest which has been one of the complaints about the ANA election process in the past.

Vote for who you think would do the best for the ANA.

That's why the "and trust" part. There may be some that have name recognition, but you have no basis for trusting them with the office they seek.

I've only talked to 1 person running for office, but I wouldn't limit who I vote for to that one person (who I also trust).

I've never talked to any of the people I vote for public office so I would say I don't "know" them. People should campaign and make their platform known. Why should the ANA be different?

I was disappointed to see campaign statements focusing on previous activities, awards, professional status, and platitudes. This community is small enough that everyone already knows that stuff. Instead I'd like to see specific proposals, and only then, should one get into why their experience might be useful for achieving said goals.

Don gets my vote. I believe his platform is exactly what ANA needs to continue being relevant. But then again, I'm just one of "no nothings"

Some future group of candidates could agree on 3 fundamental changes/improvements for ANA. Develop a plan to accomplish those things, then address members with a consistent, reasonable and unified message. The Board president has to be one of the group.

I believe one or more are just looking to add to their titles, more than helping the Hobby.
I am sad to see this!

This. Lone voices on the board don't get much done.
