Pack Fresh Raw Commons late 70’s early 80’s

Best places some of you go to for late 70’s / early 80’s pack fresh raw? I’m not talking PSA 8, 9, or 10 stuff but pack fresh with less then desirable centering / minor print flaws. I do not have Rookie cards or stars in mind....

I haven't bought anything from him in several years now, but I had a lot of luck in the past buying large lots from eBay seller gls20102010. I think I've bought some decent sized lots from every year between 1974-1986. Many of those lots in the 5,000-10,000 card range, with a couple years in the 15,000 range. I don't know where he acquires his stock or if he ever got more of the same quality after I bought all that I needed, but I will browse his listings occasionally, and he seems to still be selling large common lots.

I was never disappointed with the condition or the player inclusions in his large lots, as he'll often leave multiples of all but the 2 or 3 very best/key cards from the set in there. The only thing you have to watch out for is of he has multiple monster boxes for sale of the same year, say for example, 5 different listings for 1984 Topps in 3200 count boxes. If you only win one of the auctions, most likely the cards in that box will be a run of cards from say #161-#320 with roughly 20 of each card included, as he's obviously just selling a dealer's set building stock. (I admit, I've ended up with a box or 2 of those.)

Once, he was selling 3 separate 5,000 card lots of 1980 Topps, and I ended up with all 3 lots. He taped the heck out of each individual monster box, then taped all 3 monster boxes together, and shipped it like that, via FedEx. The storage boxes obviously showed a lot of wear by the time they arrived, and all the tape left on them made them unusable, anyway, but the cards inside were fine.

There was at least 2 of every card included (even Henderson and Ryan), and enough variation in the collation to make 4 additional near sets at the time, maybe missing between 5-20 cards to finish, which I've since completed. I was thrilled with that purchase.

After set building, the collation of the remaining 10,000+ 1980 cards was all over the place, with only 2 or 3 of some guys like Fergie Jenkins or Gossage, but 70+ of Carew and Yastrzemski, or completely missing random common players from the Pennsylvania and New York teams, which is his general location, I think...

I have similar success stories from the other years that I purchased from him also. The only negatives I have to mention are that he doesn't take many photos and doesn't spend much time on the descriptions, and he could stand some improvement on the communication as I recall he was slow to respond to my minimal inquiries, and not very detailed in his reply. I would prefer a little more protection when shipping, but so far there's been no issue with damage. My purchases have mostly been a leap of faith, but for the most part, I've been rewarded. Of course YMMV, but if you're looking to build some sets, I'd definitely recommend checking him out to see what he has.

Is Bill "King of the Commons" Henderson still around? I would like so much to get the last 50ish commons I need for my 1974 set and to get a nice NRMT or better near set of 1973 stripped of all the key cards (I already have most of those in PSA 7 so I don't want to pay extra for raw cards I already have)
