When you must have the top grade Egypt 1917H Mil

Egypt 1917-H 1 millieme with 12 million pieces issued, catalogs for about twelve bucks in Unc.
In Stephen Album’s auction this past weekend a MS66+ brought $1300 plus BP.
Can someone explain?

it boils down to people wanting the highest grading set or piece. Go look at the USA side and see the quarter sets or others and see what some people pay for highest grade of a common piece. Just my 2 milliemes.

A knowledgeable collector would pay such a premium?
An “investor” would believe there’s future profit?

The "high grade premium" is out of control. Wise collectors will just step away and wait for the bubble to burst. Tulips anyone?

    All glory is fleeting.

But I just happily paid $500 for this PCGS MS67 (~$100 coin MS63). I've had in hand Paris mint Egypt patterns and proofs from that decade and am 98% convinced it's a specimen strike.
