He is endorsing Col Steven Ellsworth

Dear Fellow Numismatists:

The American Numismatic Association (ANA) is this country’s preeminent coin collecting organization. Founded in 1891, the ANA serves a critical role in the hobby by bringing in new collectors, organizing trade shows, and educating collectors and dealers. The ANA is one of the few organizations and companies that are focused on growing and improving our hobby. It is vital that this mission be continued and expanded.

I believe that Col. Steven Ellsworth (ret.) is the best person to further the ANA’s important mission. Ellsworth is a highly experienced professional numismatist specializing in Early American Copper coinage. He has served as an ANA Governor for the last three years, during which time he held positions on the Audit, Finance and Budget, Development, and Marketing committees. Ellsworth has also served on the National Silver Dollar Roundtable board and was President of the Virginia Numismatic Association.

Prior to his numismatic career, Ellsworth bravely served his country in numerous roles during his time in the Army, including as a commander of Green Berets, as a Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Army and as Assistant to the Secretary of the Army for Legislative Affairs.

Ellsworth has a deep understanding of both collectors and dealers, as well as the hobby’s challenges and opportunities. If elected, I believe that Ellsworth will provide careful and thoughtful leadership that will maximize the growth of the ANA and our hobby.

Please join me in voting for Col. Steven Ellsworth (ret.) for ANA President.

Best wishes,
Mark Salzberg

Colonel has to be one of the coolest titles for a numismatist. It’s up there with Doctor.

The ANA lost me after that fiasco ( as well as other ANA mishaps ). That was the straw that broke this camels back. I let my membership lapse after that. I’m open to coming back one day when they have at least turned the corner into this century.

Same here as I've known Larry since the late 1980's and all those free silver seated NGC slabbed token offers didn't get me to rejoin.

Would you want a 1st term? You’ve done a lot of thinking on what the ANA could be doing better.

Meaningful, positive change for ANA requires leaders and a majority on the Board of Governors to make good things happen for the organization and members. (Presently called the "Board of Grovelers.") That requires time, organization, money and new vision for ANA's role in the hobby and business.

A generation ago, ANA was the leader in authentication, grading, hobby protection, information, marketing and member service. Now, they are just a logo on a trailer look-alike in Colorado Springs. (My jest in another thread about the ANA's Organ and Saxophone was only half-pun.)

Being a former board member, I can tell you, the entire board needs to be replaced. The Prez can have the best ideas, the boards I have seen all are worthless. Everyone has their own agenda and it seems for most its their 5 min in the spot light.

I do support Ellesworth. I do not believe he is running just to add the title to his resume

Should there be ANA "parties" so a number of people can be elected on a slate for change?
