In golf there's birdies (one under), eagles (-2), albatross (-3), condor (-4), then OSTRICH???

So as every golfer and probably even most who at least know a little of the sport, a birdie is getting a hole one under par, and an eagle is two under par. Very rarely you may see a golfer get three under par (which is only possible on a par 5, not counting holes in one) which is called an albatross (another popular term is double eagle, though it's actually an eagle and a half). Most people are probably not aware that there are in a fact a few (VERY few, I don't think any of the major golf tournaments ever used any) par 6 holes out there, which allows the possibility for a four under par, called a condor or vulture.

So obviously the further down the list you go, you get progressively bigger/meaner/scarier sorts of birds. Which is why the next bird on the list makes no sense at all. I don't know if there are any actual par 7 holes out there anywhere but if there are, and I don't know if even Happy Gilmore himself could pull this off, but if a five under par is actually done, would you believe the term would be an ostrich of all things??? True it's the biggest bird of them all (other than Big Bird from Sesame Street!) but doesn't exactly fit the mean scary image of the albatross or condor does it?

PS: Do people really honest to goodness do ostrich racing as a sport?? And I thought badminton was a funny looking sport!

You see ostriches raised in captivity and they don't seem all that bad. However ostriches in the wild are nasty as yell, as most large wild animals are, and with one swift kick an ostrich can send a human being to the promised land.

My advice would be if anyone is traveling on an African safari and sees an ostrich in the wild, it's a good idea not to try to pet it. ;)

I wish I would have been taught not to play with strange women. It would have saved me a lot of money over the years. LOL

I only made that mistake once. While in college. Had to go to the school doc. He gave me some tetracycline, and it knocked them bad boys right out of there.

Sadly it only takes once and anything short of abstinence (or being the human version of spayed/neutered) is not foolproof.

one of the more interesting threads. going from someone dunking a 2nd shot on a 1,000-yd par 7 to steve being cured of an STD in college

not quite sure how we'll manage to inject barry sanders into this one, but i'm confident that someone can make it happen

    I'll try...

A radio ad for a domestic litigation firm called Cordell and Cordell that airs quite frequently in KC uses Barry Sanders as an endorser, sharing with the listeners that Barry knows all about going through the pain of divorce, and that Cordell and Cordell helped protect Barry's rights, before, during, and after the divorce.

"Cordell and Cordell...truly a partner men can count on."

Yea, to cleverly agitate both parties in a lawsuit so the lawyers can run up higher and higher legal fees for themselves. Divorce attorneys are masters at it.

I've advised two close friends and also a family member going through a nasty divorce. My most important point was "Don't make the lawyers rich." For example don't spend $10,000 in legal fees fighting over a $500 couch.

Thank goodness they always listened and i managed to get word of this advise to their spouse as well either directly or thru a third party. Their soon to be ex-spouse listened as well. Their divorces were probably about as low in legal fees as possible.

Totally agree with Steve on all points. Nobody’s divorce was cheaper than Me and my ex wife’s. Her lawyer friend drew up the paperwork, we both signed it and went to court, it was so smooth the judge actually commented that she wished every divorcing couple handled it like us. And yes I ended up having a few “Trysts” with her lawyer “Friend” shortly after so it was a win win 😎

I'm so sorry you had to split up :( Even if it was amicable, no hard feelings and all that, I still think it (or any marriage breakup) is kinda sad. :(

IOW, if it hasn't happened for you already, this is what you hope would later come of the situation. Like Julie Andrews once said, one door closes another one opens right?
