Calling all experts! Again (: 1902 penny 2.6 grams!?

Hello again! I have a 1902 penny that weighs 2.6 grams.. it also has gold in it at the south rev and throughout areas of the obv. On the rev it also has another type metal where you see it looks dirty.. zoomed in and think this is zinc on the scope. It's multi colored everywhere actually but the obv really shows the gold tone throughout :) I'm mostly concerned about the weight though, should weigh 3.1 but 2.6? Weighed it on two scales and both say 2.6. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

The coin should weigh roughly 3.11 g. It is made up of 95% copper and only 5% zinc/tin. There is most certainly no gold in there. It looks to be heavily cleaned/damaged. Corrosion could be a factor in weight being off. IMO the coin looks suspect

For comparison and stats from Coin Facts:

    DIAMETER: 19.00 millimeters
    WEIGHT: 3.11 grams
    MINTAGE: 87,374,704
    MINT: Philadelphia
METAL: 95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc

The IHC does not look right. The porous looking surface and mushy details have the look of a cast counterfeit.

It appears to be exposed to some sort of acidic or corrosive environment. The discoloration is just environmental damage. The coin did not leave the mint looking like that.

Probably buried or submerged and wire-brushed clean.

No, absolutely not. It would be silver if it were struck on a Barber dime which it clearly isn't.

Just a damaged cent that probably has been buried and exposed to corrosion
Not worth much over face value now.

Yep, just soaked in some type of acid.
