George Hussey ran a courier service In NYC during and after the War. It was a quick, inexpensive way to transport documents, especially between financial institutions. "Exigency" is proudly heralded below the horse and rider, underscoring this business' belief that their work was fulfilling an urgent need. The forerunner of the modern day FEDEX.
A classic in the Storecard series of Civil War tokens, this one sports a good amount of red remaining in the protected areas and is very lustrous with very few marks. A GEM!
