Opinions needed on a collecting idea

I am starting to put together a complete collection of every player who has ever played for the Baltimore Orioles since their move to Baltimore in 1954. There are approximately 1100 or so different players eligible. I am trying to get one card picturing them in an Orioles uniform. Ungraded and can be from any year as long as in an Oriole uniform. Obviously, it may impossible for some players. However, in 1991 Crown Gas put out a set of every player who had ever played for the Orioles, so if I have to fall back on that set for some players, I will do that.

However, for other players who have played, but don't have a card with the Orioles - which would you collect - a minor league card of this player if it is in the Orioles system, or a major league card of that player even if it is on another team? I am leaning towards the minor league card if it exists. I guess if all else fails, I will have to resort to the player on another team for a few cards.

I am trying to get a good variety of different sets from my own collection first, although for some of the early players, they may have only one Oriole card that even works. Should be fun to have something to track down at shows.
