New Card Production Schedules

Anyone know how far out Topps finalizes their checklist for new releases before they hit the street? How far out before release do they start printing? Is it a game of pushing it out as far as they can on some releases in order to try to get the latest and greatest rookie?

Where do you find the earliest public checklist or do you have to basically wait until the product is released? I do a couple new products each year and if I pre-order I would prefer a checklist first. I also buy Orioles case/box breaks and with the state of the O's these days, some products are VERY WEAK in the Orioles department.
