Beckett is basically not putting subgrades on their cards anymore because it takes to much time.

Will this increase the price of cards with all 9.5's or higher cards? Obviously this applies to newer cards 1981 and up.
Hierarchy (my guess)

1) BGS 10 Black label
2) BGS 10 Pristine
3) PSA 10
4) Bgs 10, 10, 9.5, 9.5
5) BGS 10, 9.5, 9.5, 9.5
6) BGS all 9.5
7) BGS 9.5
8) PSA 9

I thought this would happen. Send the same card in 10 times and get 10 different subgrades.

This is an optional service. No subs with faster return times, but they still offer the traditional subs service also. This has been going on for months already.

Is this an "Optional" service, or across the board for everything now?

It takes about 10 months to get the cards back if you want subgrades. not many want to wait that long.

There are a lot of 2019 Bowman Autos in BGS cases that say otherwise B)

You are right, it costs $25 per card to get hem back in 30 days. If you have an auto of a rookie in 2019 it might be worth it. If you 1986 donruss canseco's, 1987 barry bonds, 1989 griffey jr, are you ponying up $25 per card to get them graded? PSA 9's of these cards don't sale for $25. At $8 per, you are giving the 80's cards a chance. For the newer cards the subs probably aren't as important because they tend to be serialed numbered. When you have 10,000 griffey jr cards graded, the subs help out and some cases could be mean $50 to $100 more value for a particular card. I know when i list a Beckett card with 10 centering, I get higher prices.

could this be in response to Becketts willingness to grade sheet cut cards? an indicator of such was always the 9.5´s where every sub grade was a 9.5 or 10 except surface which was always a 9. no more subgrades, not as easy to determine sheet cut.

Flat 9.5s will definitely fall below their brethren. Seems the M.O. on modern cards is:

submit to PSA, send everything that didn't 10 to BGS to get a 9.5

At that point, you're hoping you get a "true gem" and BGS gives you 9.5s across the board. If it doesn't get those, it's a notch below the "true gems." Now, any 9.5s with no subgrades should just be assumed to have a 9 in there somewhere.

Side question: why was the 9 on surface the tell-tale for sheet cut? I would think it would be the edges.

because on a sheet cut card, centering, corners and edges are nice and sharp. just as if they were cut yesterday. the surface however, cannot as easily be fixed. often sheets are stored rolled up and there can be small surface wrinkles. there can also be some scratching done during handling.

You can say that about any card though. The one variable, the one part of the process that cannot be factory duplicated, is the cutting process. PSA can kick back sheet cards which means they can tell from the edges what factory cuts look like. If you take a loupe to a factory edge and a hand-cut edge you will see obvious differences. There's no surface wear that would be unique to sheet cut cards that couldn't also be damage occurred to factory cut cards as well.
