Need some help from the modern experts

The card I am asking about is modern, but 21 years old.

My question is about the 1998 Finest #230 Vince Carter. I have multiples of this card in PSA 10 that I must have bought 20ish years ago (at obviously higher levels). I was wondering if there a difference price-wise in PSA 10s that have the coating and PSA 10s that do not? Also do collectors favor one type over the other, and if so, why?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe for the Finest peels, you will generally see a premium for the cards with the peels vs. without. This is still a rather subjective thing for collectors as some prefer the look of the card without the peel. However, I think the current groundswell is in favor of the peel as this was how the card came in its original state. I haven't looked at prices recently, but when I was buying and selling Jordan Finest cards, the Finest PSA 10's with the peels generally were higher than the peeled version. At that time, the premium was not a huge difference, though that might have changed.

This was my thinking too, but the intricacies of that era are not my strong suit.

While I do collect 90's basketball (mostly MJ) it is not my strongest suit. I was out of the hobby by the time most of the quality 90's products were coming out and it isn't easy keeping track of all the sets. In hearing collectors who do specialize in that era talk, it does seem like with peel is the way to go now and will be into the foreseeable future.

I remember that 1998-99 Finest also was the year that there were No-Protector parallels inserted in packs too but I honestly don't know how to tell the difference or if there even is a difference between a NP version & the normal version that has been peeled. The rookies were in series 2 and I remember pulling a No-Protector Paul Pierce that was valued higher than the version that had the peel. This link kind of describes the difference in the Parallel section but like I said above it might be tough distinguishing which one you may have unless someone else here that knows how to tell the difference and chimes in,does.

    From the link:
Issued with no protective film, cards have the Finest-technology coating on both sides and are printed on plastic cardstock; they are NOT base cards with the protective film removed.

Funny you asked this question. I have a ton of 93 and 94 topps finest. I never peeled any of them. I always wondered if there were a premium for unpeeled. I've noticed that even though mine have lived in boxes with the coating still on, some of them fade.
