Must be difficult being a cataloger of world coins

The cataloging mistake will most likely go unnoticed by nearly every non-NE Asian reader, but to us the mistake is glaring. Since this is for a HK auction, maybe they should have used a HK cataloger or proofreader.

I can imagine similar difficulty an American cataloger will have with, say, an obscure early Kievan-Rus coinage inscription.

This part:

The legend above the obverse design reads from right to left "年九國民華中" (Nián jiǔ guómín huá Zhōng [Ninth Year of the Republic of China]).

When read from right to left, it says Zhōng Huá Mín Guó Jiǔ Nián. (The way the SB cataloger wrote the PinYin transcription is jibberish because it is written from left to right.)

"Zhōng Huá Mín Guó" is Republic of China. "Jiǔ" is nine. "Nián" is year. ROC 9th Year, starting from 1911 when Sun Yat-Sen lead the overthrow of the last Qing Emperor. So, 1912 would be ROC Y1, etc.
