You can hate Tom Brady all you want

lawnmowermanlawnmowerman Posts: 19,477 ✭✭✭✭

but the guy is in every sense of the word, a team player. With players like this, especially their all world team leader, it's no wonder they win so much.

Yea the funny thing is that he takes pay cuts and team friendly contracts and still rarely gets playmakers around him.

Hee hee, I do love teasing my Malden, MA wife about how most every football fan outside of New England hates the Patriots because they've made every AFC Title game since 2011 and made the Super Bowl four out of the last five times. I mean c'mon, isn't it time for someone else to get a turn for a change? ;)

Let's hope my team has better luck in 2020...new decade, game #3001 to start it :)

That's because Kraft is busy spending all of his money on "massages" 🤣

I thought the same thing by the way. Brady seems to always get things done with no name type players.

Lol actually Steve, I used to collect Brady quite heavily. However in my infinite wisdom, I sold all his cards after they won the 4th Super Bowl thinking he was done. Literally cost me thousands.

    I don't hate him.

He's one of the best, if not the best ever.

I wonder if Kirk Cousins will be willing to take a pay cut in two years if the Vikings are one of the top teams.

NO I am not saying Cousins is anywhere near as good as Brady.

I think Tom Brady cards are one of the best long term investments out there.

His outstanding NFL football record speaks for itself. For that alone, his cards will always be treasured.

However, the wild card value in all this could be if one day he decides to run for political office. If he seeks and wins a high office, his cards would definitely increase in value.

I don't know him personally as far as his political aspirations, or if he has any at all. That being said, in my opinion...with his intelligence, his work ethic, his love for our country, and many other reasons, I think he would make a terrific POTUS.

If he ever became POTUS, just name your price for his cards. Who knows how high they would go?

If you had enough of his cards and you sold them, you might be able to buy the city of Tampa. ;)

No offense at all Steve but I have to say it makes me literally LOL when people mention Brady in politics, my father says he thinks he will get into politics as well and it baffles me as to why people think this. He is the GOAT QB. Nothing more and nothing less.

Paul, the odds are extremely high that you are right. But that being said, what your father sees and what I see is that "it" factor. Brady has got a certain charisma, a certain leadership ability, a certain way of carrying himself with confidence that looks presidential.

When Brady retires from playing football, if he decides to do absolutely nothing else the rest of his life, his cards will still increase in value over the years. However if he should one day announce a run for political office, even just for a congressional seat, i think his cards could immediately double in value, perhaps more for certain cards.

Gisele Bündchen, his beautiful wife, as you likely know is from Brazil. I could foresee Brady being offered the job of US ambassador to Brazil. His wife would love that. Not sure at all if Brady would accept it or not, but I think him and his wife would enjoy doing that for a few years. Brady would then get his feet wet in the world of international politics, to put on his political resume. The situation with the children might preclude him from doing it.

In any event, we shall see. :)

Never thought about Brady going into politics. Don't really want to get into politics at all, but it would be interesting to see if he could win a very liberal Massachusetts with his conservative agenda. Then again, Massachusetts has elected conservative mayors and congressmen I believe, so maybe not a big deal at all.

Brady would never run for mayor. He'd try for a congressional seat, senate or house.

Brady would never run for mayor. He'd try for a congressional seat, senate or house.

Legendary Nebraska Cornhuskers coach Tom Osborne won a seat out of Nebraska. He didn't care for his career in politics and made his way back to Nebraska football.

JC Watts did the same in Oklahoma after playing at OU. Watts is now out of politics.

Brady's blood is football. If he did go into politics, he would eventually find his way back to
football the same way these guys did. It's in their blood.

Depends on how successful he is.

Brady is a winner, without question. So Brady wouldn't accept being just a political potted plant like too many in congress are. If he's not succeeding in congress, and if he's not making a difference in what he believes, then I agree he would quit and do something else.

No idea one way or the other. It's just sports talk banter. Brady himself may not even know.

One thing is for sure, after he retires from playing football, both parties will contact him and ask if he is interested in running for some office on their side.

You know Eisenhower was courted by both parties too until he "came out" (so to speak) as a Republican. He was the only R President during 1933-69 (D's got seven out of nine terms)...then the R's went seven for ten from 1969-2009. Since 1993 it's been an even eight years alternating b/t R's and D's.

And if you think that's something, for 1947-2003 the D's held our governor's mansion 12 out of 13 times. Talk about bluer than a Smurf "Solid South"...and we're not even in the real South!!

Respectfully disagree. Most of the top players in all the major sports want to be the highest paid.

Most that take pay cuts to help the team no longer can dictate their terms. Perfect example is Everson Griffen of Vikings, he had some problems last year and took a pay cut.

Anthony Barr stayed with the team even though he could have made a LITTLE more with the Jets, but he has it pretty good here, and if asked to play differently in N.Y. it could be a disaster for him.

There have been some players who take less to help the team, often they get shafted when they look for money later.

Those guys are all multi millionaires. How much do they really need?

Brady has just about everything, his ego doesn't seem to go in the "highest paid" direction. Lucky for the Patriots!

I think tom realizes that in 50 years, no one will remember who the highest paid QB in 2018 was, but they sure will remember which Quarterback was on the most super bowl teams.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

You're right, and in 50 years I highly doubt that record would have been broken.

Frankly, it's right up there now with some of the greatest sports records of all time.
