Ripping a box of 2017 Panini National Treasures Baseball -- Plus Giveaway Update!!

PROMETHIUS88PROMETHIUS88 Posts: 2,819 ✭✭✭✭✭

Since it's still sitting here from 2 weeks ago, it didn't sell on Ebay, I've been laid up for the better part of a week and to celebrate a great Cubs win over the Cardinals today, I will be ripping this box hoping for something decent. I know in the end I'm going to feel like a loser and regret it, but that's the story of my life so why should this be any different, lol!!!
Wish me luck and I'll post pics of the hits this evening!

*****Updated to add that at the end of this I will do something and give out the Springer and Gwynn cards. Not sure how I'll work it yet, but will figure something out by the end of the night!

First card.... I really like this guy and think he is a bit under rated being in the shadow of Acuna. This is numbered 9/10

Never knew his name was Ozhaino before. Nice pull.

It's like the Easter Bunny just dropped a turd on my front porch and ran away, laughing. This is # 97/99. Not a Strohs fan at all, so this card does ZERO for me.

One of my favorite players and one of the best pure hitters the game has ever known. That being said, the Easter Bunny strikes again. This is numbered 84/99.

Gwynn was one of the top 5 pure hitters of all time. Too bad it wasn’t a patch cut for this card. Still a sweet card though!

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 22,528 ✭✭✭✭✭

Not bad. Nice pulls. Especially the Gwynn and the Albies.

Well I have lots of saws where we can teach the Easter bunny a lesson :)

There's a Fox in the henhouse .... Nellie Fox pinstripe jersey. This is numbered 1/10. Pretty neat looking card but not what I would consider a "major" hit yet. But a #1 is cool and out of 10 isn't bad either. Still way in the hole on the box.

So, I'm hot on this redemption cards. Not sure if it will still be honored or not. Shows that it expires 4/25/19. Guessing if it is, I should have opened the box 2 weeks ago when I got it! Rookie Materials Signatures Gold Benintendi. From reading, I think these are numbered 49 or less....not really sure or what it is even worth. Will most likely end up on Ebay.

Cool looking card since I'm a Cub fan. I think this is part of the C from the jersey. # 29/99

Last card before the booklet is a nice Pudge. Auto, patch, relic numbered 5/10. This might bring $50 or more.

Before I post this the last card, for those of you following or will read this later, I will send, for free, the Gwynn to one person and the Springer to another. Simple rules, must be for a kid that is 16 or younger, can be a fan of the player or the team and you have to be the first person to respond in the thread after the booklet pic is posted with the card they want, first name and age. Tomorrow I will PM the winners(if anyone responds) and get the mailing address and send the cards to the kid.

And finally the last card. Not sure of it's actual value but looks like the #3/3 was in a BGS holder and sold. It was listed for $359, I think. Legends Cuts of Harry Hooper. Cut auto/bat relic card. Pretty nice hit and it's numbered 2/3. Might get close to getting my money back. Already thinking about getting another box. The wife isn't super excited about that idea!
    Thanks for following along!!

Why is it his favorite player? And the sun is hot, working in the shop and sweating my butt off. I guess that’s why it’s called a sweet shop lol. Yes on another box, you can do it lol

It’s funny he said the Gwynn because he’s never heard of springer. I cheated though lol

It's ok, you got in ahead of all the people swarming for these freebies!! I think I have your address on the shipping box in the other room. I have a stack of recycling I haven't taken out, thankfully! I'll get it shipped out to him!

Cool thread, and fun to watch. I just could not pull the trigger on these high end boxes, want to so bad, it's always a bust. I have opened thousands of packs and have never got a killer card. I think four or five nice cards, but never a real killer. I think you should go for box #2.

I would love to but I also like to eat and it's hard core grilling season now!! I might get another one if I can figure out a way to sneak it in the house past the wife. She never knows how much cash I have or what might be sitting in my Paypal account and no clue what a box costs. If she asks, I'm honest with her but if she doesn't, then I'm in the clear!!! The shop I got this one at has some other years of NT as well. Also some Immaculate and other high end boxes. I just have to see what else is there. I know I'm throwing my money away, for the most part, but it's still fun.
