Flying Bats...

It seems to me like I am seeing a lot more baseball bats flying into the stands during games compared to when I watch the games in the 1980s and 1990s. Is it just me or are players losing control of their bats more often now?

Don't know, but they seem to be swinging harder in the home run or bust era.
Tony Oliva used to lose his bat quite a bit when swinging. I believe he had an injury that never fully healed that caused him to "throw" his bat.
most bats aren't "thrown" with a typical swing or a hard swing for the HR as alluded to. most often they happen when a player is really reaching for a pitch or gets fooled and can't hold up(check) his swing.
That seems logical @keets
