Cherrypicked this token for a buck. Databases have it as circa. 1860, possibly German, as a child's learning device? Obv of Liberty has 2 nice die breaks and sunrays clash from the rev. Anyone have a catalogue # for this as a known variety? Peace Roy

    Found a blog entry:

“The legend in full would read Compositions spiel-marke.

These were all made in Germany as toys and were issued for various countries.

This particular coin is from the series that were made for the American market; a brass piece is listed in David Rogers 'Toy Coins' at # 2442 where it is listed as a Dime, while another Dime, this time in copper, at # 2441.

A brass half dime in similar style is listed and measures 15mm along with a Large Cent, also of similar style, in Brass, 27.5mm.”

    More information on the book:

Mine is 19.2 mm, so slightly larger than a cent. Is the lady Liberty portrait used copied from a U.S. mint coin?
