Watching the CBJ/Boston hockey game I think the hockey game announcers have the hardest job when the action really gets going. The puck sure does move fast from player to player. Really tough to announce the fights too when it evolves into a major battle with numerous players.

Hockey is very tough to announce because the play often moves so fast that keeping up with the action almost precludes talking about it at the same time. From watching Center Ice I have noticed a fair number of announcers who don't even try. "{inane chatter, inane chatter, inane chatter} GOAL!!"
Football is much easier to announce, but just as hard to announce well.
Baseball as it is tough to stay awake.
Hockey is so fast the announcer can only cover maybe 1/2 the game. There are a few really good ones but even they cannot give the listener a true reality of them game.
Fb and BB have enough time for color commentators to say extras.

Good points. Basketball is so fast that it takes a great play by play guy to do it well, but not so fast that it is impossible.
hockey.
in one second you got 3 guys on a breakaway, with 2 guys defending, while 2 more are dropping the gloves.
If you are watching on a wide screen does it really matter....it's like being there. You can see everything and if you have Devo you can stop and backup or slow-mo.
