A uniface iron WWI medal, contemporaneous with Karl Goetz’ work,
though much harder to come by. The scene shows death wading in the ocean netting numerous ships seemingly with great ease (fish in a barrel) - a metaphor for Germany’s success with submarine warfare. Dated 1915, the year the Lusitania was torpedoed.
