Vietnam id help needed

I know what the two smaller coins are, but am unable to identify the large item. It's 75mm in diameter. Coin? Medal? Token??? Can anybody help?

I looked in the 19th Century Standard Catalog of World Coins and they show no 'round' coins for Vietnam in this era which exceed 43 millimeters in size.

Doesn't mean the Catalog is complete, but perhaps one should lean towards thinking that this is a medal. It certainly strikes me as desirable...

I think you're probably right. It's awfully large to be of practical use as a coin/token.

There are some, extremely rare, "coins" that were larger than 43mm - more like presentation amulets than pieces actually intended for use as money - but they were government issued. Those large pieces have, of course, been copied many times, so that copies are far more abundant than the genuine items. Suffice it to say that if someone had a genuine Tu Duc amulet, they wouldn't glue it to a tourist card.

Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.
