What to do with thousands of 1980's - 1990's common baseball cards?

I'm sure this question comes up a lot here, but I really need to get rid of them but don't just want to give them away (unless that's all there is to do with them). I have roughly 20,000+ and they are from mainly 1986-2000 from all the big brands. Most of the good stuff has been taken out years ago, but has not been searched in many years. Has anyone came up with any good ways to maybe make a few bucks form these cards? If they are truly worth nothing is there a charity or something else to do with them? I don't want to spam, but if there is any interest in these please PM me.

I gave mine to a Boy Scout Troop very recently. About 15,000 cards

The charity sounds nice, but how do I avoid paying hundreds in shipping costs? Kinda takes the wind out of my sails.

I sent mine in flat rate USPS boxes. Stacked them in directly with no padding, no card sleeves and no set boxes. You will be surprised how many you can fit in the large box.

They're paper so you could always recycle them.

Giving them to a childrens charity is a great idea. The kids might get interested in our hobby.

My drop off was a 4 mile drive. Unless you live in a rural area I can’t possibly see a scenario where a willing and qualified entity is so far away that you have to ship.

I was referring to the http://commons4kids.org site posted above. They are about 1000 miles from my location. There's one scenario for you.

I'd rather have them in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing than at my local goodwill or the like.

Anything is better than just throwing them out. Don't stress over it.

Save them for your garage sale. Sell them all for $5 to $10 bucks. Someone will buy them.

In my opinion, this is the only scenario where you end up with any money from your commons.

If not a garage sale, then maybe Craigslist/Facebook/offerup/letgo.
But with those sites, the 6 people who contact you will all be serial killers.

But are they willing to buy the cards? Might be worth the risk.

About 6 years ago I sold 20,000 commons on Craigslist for $300

.... and I escaped with only minor stab wounds.

Salvation army or Goodwill for donation. If you want to make a few bucks, Craigslist. Good luck.

Reverse the situation. What would you pay for the lot. your answer will tell you
what to do now. More than likely recycle them.

They're worthless, there isn't anything that can change that. You asked for recommendations, you have them. If you don't like them that's not the fault of the folks posting them! :)

Find a local children’s hospital close to where you live. It’s a great place to donate cards

SIG Auctions did one of these things.

Just put all the stuff on a pallet - pack it - wrap it and slap a price tag.

I have about 20k sitting in my closet as well. If the shipping cost was cheaper I would find a way to trade with the other poor suckers in the same situation. I could probably help the other 7 people trying to build junk card sets out there, but don't have time to search them out and send them the cards. If anyone has any 1995-2015 Topps junk commons sitting around they can send them my way :) .
