Can one of you intelligent people shed some light on something...

Could one of you highly intelligent registry collectors shed some light on this for me? What do you do with, how do you use Intercept Shield Double Protection Box System (I have 2 boxes that hold 10 graded coins each).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. image

2labmom - Sorry, I looked real hard , but I could not find any intelligent people. I then went to look for some intelligent bears, but they are all sleeping at this hour. Regards Bear ( Edited for spelling)

To the best of my knowledge, you just have to store the coins inside the box.image

If you have what I think you are talking about you simply put the individual slabbed coin into a single-slab Intercept holder (the holders that are about the size of a deck of cards and that have circular, mylar cut-outs on either side) and then place ten of those individual holders into the box. If you want more or different information here is the Intercept Shield web site.

  • Tom's explanation is correct. By lining up the mylar windows on the slab holder when you insert the slab , you'll be able to read the PCGS ( or NGC ) label , without having to remove the slab from the holder. Each slab holder is lined with intercept shield. You then place 10 of these slabs in the holders in the long white box , that is also lined with intercept shield , to store them. Thus , the double protection ; the individual holders and the box. They claim they should be replaced every 10 years.

I put my coins in the Intercept Shield holders, then in the IS boxes that hold 9 or 10, like you mentioned, then in a clear plastic tupperware-like container (PVC-free, as far as I know), then in the safe/safe dep. box. I use dissicants in the plastic box, safe dep. box/safe as well. I have some cheap hydrometers in each area too. I am happy with it so far. GL

    a2labmom:

As far as I can tell from the comments so far here's what to do:

    1. Coins in holders
    2. Holders in box
    3. Box in safe

One other additional bit of advice....
I use a "Sharpie" and right the date, or variety on the top of each individual sleeve....when you pop off the top of the big box that holds them all, you can't tell which coin is which...so if you want to pull out a specific one, use the Sharpie.

Very wise board. I agree with the prior comments, and have nothing to add. I hope their advice answered your question. If I understood your question, I think it has been well answered.
