there are no one man shows in team sports.
Except when it came to Bobby Orr. His 9 seasons of NHL hockey saw him at a PLUS +574.
That averages out to a PLUS +64 per season for Bobby Orr.
Gretzky was a PLUS +26 per season.
Lidstrom was a PLUS +24 per season.
Larry Robinson was a PLUS +36 per season.
Larry Robinson is the 2nd best PLUS MINUS player in history per season behind Orr, and
Larry Robinson played on MANY Stanley Cup teams with Montreal and MANY hall of famers.
If you take out Orr's rookie season at age 18 when he was a +1, then he averaged
+72 per season., which is DOUBLE Larry Robinson's totals.
+/- is a nonsense stat and it's impossible to judge across eras.
Brad McCrimmon once had a +86 year. Does anybody really think he was an all-time great? Of course not. Excellent player who had a wonderful career but not an elite.
In the last three decades, no one has gone above a +60. Zdeno Chara led the league one year with a +33.
Because teams actually play defense and have good goaltending now, you won't see teams having a +190 goal differential like you sometimes saw in the 1970s. Last year, the LARGEST in the league was a +60.
That's a long way of saying that Orr would be lucky to put up a +35 or +40 today.

Nope. Put orr on the ice by himself and he would loose against any nhl team.
Gretzky was the LeBron of hockey!!! Supremely talented player who for some stupid reason wanted to be sent to LA .
Aww he got to see celebrities so its ok that his career is destroyed
Big reason was to further his wife's (Janet) acting career.
Also he's a big golfer. Hard to get 18 holes in the frozen tundra of Alberta for 7 months out of the year. That's why he bought a home at Sherwood Country Club- to play everyday. Vis a vis most King players live near the ocean (South Bay), just a few minutes to their practice facility. Gretz lived many miles, and a long commute away, in the valley, to chase the little whight ball.

Janet's acting career? How'd that work out for them ? She got a commercial that one time and there was a chance they made police academy 27 that other time.
