Storing wax packs? How?

Does it matter if you store wax packs standing straight up or laying down? I have seen some packs where the gum juice leaked on all the cards. is it best to store laying flat or standing?

I think the gum will "juice" or bleed if there is a climate issue. Moister or high heat I think cause problems with gum.

I place raw wax and cello packs in a team bag with a top loader behind the pack and then store them upright in a Plano spinner tackle box which are perfectly sized to store about 20 packs in a box.

I always get a smile on my face when Tim can add the "Plano Spinner" mention to the discussion.

The first time I heard of it was a few years ago, I thought it was a bit peculiar. Then I got to know Tim a little and realized he had nailed it when it came to bottom line functionality.

I keep mine similarly in a team bag with top loader although mine stand in a Super Monster Box.

I adopted Tim's approach many years ago and can swear by it. I wouldn't store packs any other way.

I forget who discovered the Plano tackle boxes first. I know I learned of them in 2009 when I bought out a wacky packages wax collection from a friend of mine who had his packs stored in them. It was a real revelation and I’ve been a convert ever since! The nice thing about using them for the wacky unopened packs is they are considerably thinner, so a tackle box can hold up to 36 packs.

    I feel your pain waxman.

In the case of my graded packs, I leave the center divider in a 3200 ct monster box and am able to stack 2 stacks of 6 on each side - 24 total in the box. I line it with bubble wrap to keep them from shifting and have a pretty easy to manage storage for graded packs, racks, and other items.
