I was Reminded Today not to Ever Buy Packs of Cards at Retail Stores

I went to a certain red dot store the other day and bought a few Heritage packs from the 1970 design. I finally got around to opening them today and two of the corners were bent on every card in two packs. With all the crack showing losers who dig through packs trying to find the chase cards, it's not surprising to find that the cards inside are all beat up. Never again will I buy packs sitting in that type of environment.

Can't argue with that. Very disappointing.

edit: saw a guy at Target going thru packs - it was next to the food stand - guy behind the counter told me that he's seen them bring in small digital scales to weigh the packs.

Best to buy a blaster - the hangers @ 9.99 are not a good value from my experience over the years.

Ive seen this to where they have a digital scale for each pack.
"Best to buy a blaster" can this not be done as well to a whole box? Or do they average out equal for each box? I guess so as they only want 1 pack out of 4 or so. Never mind. Sucks, I feel bad for the kids in this situation.

I don't buy packs at Big Box Stores but I usually swing by the display to see what's happening. I usually call out the fat middle aged mom's basement dwelling losers when I see them playing games. You have to spend a lot of time with retail packs trying to find the "Good" cards. Hopefully they end up with a lot of crap game used cards that are worth less than the pack....

It is too bad though as these big box stores are one way of helping get new people involved in the hobby....

Sorry it did not work out.
Bought my first ever blaster pack today. I blindly grabbed one, got lucky with a heritage at the red dot place and it was a hot pack or whatever, 8 purple thc cards 1 chrome thc, 2 caps, 5 sp, scratcher.
It seems the first and last card seem to rise up on the ends making them vulnerable.

I empathize. About 10 months ago I bought a pack of 2018 Donruss. Every single card in the pack had a bent corner. Never again.

I remember back in the day each hi end pack would have a "thick blank card" so you could not tell if it was a blank or the jersey auto. Do they not do this anymore?

Have to get there the day they are released or forget about it. Personally I buy just sealed clean looking blasters.

I don't buy newer cards all too often, but when I do, I go for the blaster packs. Even then, I look for ones that are in perfect shape not only to avoid a tampered box, but also because an unopened mint condition sealed box is also worth more.

Fortunately these were just the regular single packs that were like $2-$3 each. The packs looked fine externally.
