$10,000 "honorarium" for each NCAA tourny athlete. Who gets hurt.

Figure 1000 participants at $10k each equals coach k's annual salary. A modest sum compared to the tournament revenue.

Schools have always been creative in their payoffs. Let each kid speak for 3 minutes and call it an honorarium. Works for the fat cat politicians (Hillary).

The players on the teams that do not make it to the tournament, the players on D-II, D-III, NAIA and JUCO teams get hurt.

These players devote the same time and effort to the sport that the players on thy he 64 (or 68) tournament teams do.

Fundamental fairness requires equal treatment. Thus they either all get paid or none get paid. Anything that is unequal is not fair and thus extremely offensive and unjust.

Heck, any player on a team playing organized and sponsored hoops (high school, middle school, CYO AAU, etc.) shoild be included just to make it fair for everyone.

This should apply to male, female and gender fluid players on such teams to make it fair for everyone.

If a decision is made to pay everyone, think of the economic benefit to society that would result. It would be the Hoop Stimulus. Local, state and federal tax revenue would increase allowing for the funding of new midnight basketball programs across country.

If a decision is made to not pay these players they can all be given participation trophies or ribbons that are identical because regardless of skill level they are all winners.

I dont see a problem with that. the top 68 teams in the country get a bonus. D-2, D-3 etc, those players should just work harder to make it to a D-1 school. it would be similar to a world series or superbowl bonus for pros. not every team gets one, just the best do. that is fair. merit based.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

They are the show for the next three weeks.

Hell, pay them scale and they will be better off.

I agree with the idea of equal opportunity but not equal outcome. Competition, hard work and using your talents and abilities to better oneself, within ethical and moral boundaries, is the best way for the largest amount of people to succeed and have a good life.

Alas, the above is not viewed desirable by many in society today.

Equal outcome for everyone (except those running the show, who by virtue of their position are more equal than the masses) is seen as a laudable goal, even though an equal outcome mostly means equal mediocrity or worse.

If could be NCAA Poobah for a week, the solution would be simple.

Break up the collusion and simply permit the schools to pay their athletes. Duke loses Zion to Michigan because they are willing to go three million bucks so be it. That is how the world operates.
