Looking to hear advice on the best guide/books for ancient greek and roman coins that includes clearly identifying the coins and with current valuations. Bonus if it has some history but not necessary. Additionally also looking for the best online resource to finding auction records and for identification. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to be more specific about just what area of ancient coins you are interested in. The field is huge and many of the reference books are as obscure (and expensive) as the coins themselves. If you are looking for a very basic reference book on Greek and Roman coins I'd suggest "Handbook of Ancient Greek & Roman Coins" by Zander Klawansm editied by K. E, Bressett. This book is published by Whitman and probably costs about $15.
So far as valuations are concerned I can't be of any help. However, I can warn you from past personal experience that it is a field that tends to have very high margins when buying at retail so research carefully before you buy.
Ditto: You need to be more specific about just what area of ancient coins you are interested in.
Now go on the internet and look up the offerings of Sayles, Sear, and Seaby. That's a very good start of an Ancient coin library.
I don’t believe there are any current printed price guides for Greek coins. The field is too diverse and nearly every coin is a one-off which doesn’t lend itself to strict grading and consistent valuations. I recommend looking at auction records for estimating value. Heritage and CNG have a lot of records. For lower priced stuff, eBay will get you in the ballpark.

For a real solid but basic introduction, buy every book at this link (except the fancy leather bound one):

Basically it is an archive of auction photos, in nested categories.
For Roman coins, usually I start by doing a google search on the letters on the coin I can read,
and often one of the wildwinds pages will come up in the search results.
Go to that page, turn on the thumbnail photo view, and often you will see photos of different versions of your coin.
Plus you get the prices each coin sold for at auction.
The site below is also quite good for getting started, with attribution of common Roman coins:

Thank you kindly to everyone for your recommendations. I think these resources are a great place to start!
